The brief
Sporting rights are a highly competitive market. Broadband highlights are Virgin Media’s first major investment in football content.
We had a big task ahead of us as key competitors Sky, BBC, had well established and respected destination sites.
With only a 4 month window before the 2007/8 season began, time was also a key factor.
Virgin’s opportunity was sound: a solid broadband customer base in excess of 3m and a healthy portal.
The solution
Although time was tight, I oversaw external video and CMS pieces from PTV and PA, as well as running a project team of designers / actionscripters / coders.
Whilst we created an asset library, master templates and brand usage guidelines I acted as brand amabassador, presenting to and updating senior management.
Final delivery included 15 templates in standards compliant, accessible CSS/XHTML with Flash connectivity to a proprietry CMS.
