Why no Flash on iPhone?
A major flaw of the iPhone is that you can’t see Flash in Safari.
I’ve wondered about this for a long time now, ever since I got my iPhone 3g. I just didn’t get it. Never thought of investigating it. You might wrongly assume that because of QuickTime and movie trailers, Apple would not want a different way of serving video on their platform.
Mystery solved, thanks to Wired. Should have looked this up a long time ago, although there’s still a lot of speculation. It’s basically to protect their App store on iTunes. Why would Apple allow what is essentially a rival development platform in through Safari’s back door?
More in Wired article. And speculation.
